At the same time, Hamas' dislike of the new force was
evident in a statement from Khaled Mashaal, its exiled leader,
appealing to Obama to remove Lt. Gen. Keith Dayton,
the U.S. security coordinator in the region, under

Mashaal claimed Dayton was "building an oppressive authority
over the heads of our people."
The new forces are being trained in neighboring
Jordan. Since 2008, four battalions totaling 2,100
men have deployed in the West Bank, the most recent this month,
and another three battalions are to be added, bringing the total
to around 3,600
The West Bank's various security forces already number
some 24,000 Palestinians including police.

"The sources said the demand was drafted by
U.S. security envoy Lt. Gen. Keith Dayton. They said Dayton
wanted the 1,500 troops trained in 2008 in Jordan, who comprise
three battalions from the National Security Forces and Presidential
Guard, to take over security responsibility for major West Bank
cities over the next year.
Israel has been wary of the U.S. program to
bolster PA security forces. On June 26, the Israeli daily Mekor
Rishon reported that Hamas operatives have infiltrated PA forces
trained under Dayton. No details were provided.
In the second stage of Dayton's plan, officials
said, the Israel Army would withdraw from other West Bank cities,
particularly Nablus and Tulkarm. They said this could take place
in late 2009.

A mass prayer rally has
been called for late Sunday afternoon at the Western Wall in
light of the diplomatic and other dangers facing Israel.
The organizers cite the mass-murderous intentions of Iran
against Israel, Israel’s government plans to continue to
destroy Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria, and world
powers' desire to rid nearly all of these areas of Jewish
presence altogether and build an Arab state in its place.
Other participants wish to add other elements to the list of
issues requiring prayers. The gay parades in Tel Aviv
last week and Jerusalem this coming week are
cited as examples of “abominations”
that the Bible threatens could lead to the
“vomiting out” of the Land’s Jewish residents.
In addition, recent Jerusalem municipal plans to minimize
Jewish construction and increase Arab construction are also
noted as a source of grave concern.

deploy NATO forces in the West Bank as part of any Obama-era
peace deal is quickly gaining advocates in Washington and the
Levant. Former U.S. national-security advisers Brent
Scowcroft and Zbigniew Brzezinski both recently endorsed the
idea. The president-elect's nominee to head the
National Security Council, Gen. James Jones, is also said to
favor such a force. Israelis and Palestinians have raised tepid
protests, but even they seem to be realizing increasingly that a
strong international presence will be critical if any deal is to
be struck—and if it's to stick. "A principle that
appeared to be out of bounds I think is now in bounds," says

Southward : NATO and Gaza
For years, even before the “Global War on
Terror,” Paris had been calling for a troop contingent from
either the E.U. or NATO to be deployed
in Lebanon and the Palestinian Territories. The
people of the Middle East must open their eyes to what has been
planned for their lands.
There is ample evidence that the 2006 Israeli war
against Lebanon was planned by Israel, the U.S., and NATO. [4]
After deploying inside Lebanon in 2006 under the banner of
UNIFIL, NATO was also slated to enter the Gaza Strip
at some time in the near-future. Coinciding with the
2006 war on Lebanon, Israel was due to launch a major campaign
against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Israeli officials
were saying that in the aftermath of the fighting between the
Israeli military and the Palestinians that NATO was
designated to move into Gaza.
The Gaza Strip was viewed as the next destination for NATO
“peacekeeping operations,” by Avigdor
Lieberman, the former Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs.
Avigdor Lieberman was also the deputy prime minister of Israel at
the time.

and NATO in regards to coordinated preparations against Syria and
Iran.
Avigdor Lieberman also affirmed that the U.S. and NATO would
intervene on the side of Israel once the war with Iran and its
