PSALM 51---Repentance
Have mercy upon
me, O God, according to Thy lovingkindness:
according unto the multitude of Thy tender mercies blot out my
transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my
sin.
For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before
me.
Against Thee, Thee only, have I
sinned, and done this evil in Thy sight: that Thou
mightest be justified when Thou speakest, and be clear when Thou
judgest.
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother
conceive me.
( Original Sin )
Behold, Thou desirest truth in the
inward parts:
and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Purge me with hyssop (the sprinkled Blood of Yeshua Heb. 10:22), and I shall be
clean:
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me to hear joy and gladness;
that the bones which Thou hast broken may rejoice.
Hide Thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit
within me.
Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation;
and uphold me with Thy free spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways; and sinners shall be
converted unto Thee.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, Thou God of my salvation:
and my tongue shall sing aloud of Thy righteousness.
O Lord, open Thou my lips; and my mouth shall show forth Thy
praise.
For Thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it.
Thou delightest not in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.
Do good in Thy good pleasure unto Zion: build Thou the walls of
Jerusalem.
Then shalt Thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
with burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
then shall they offer bullocks upon Thine altar."
Why does the Psalmist
say " Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned ?"
It is because Our Lord took upon Himself the consequences of our
sins.
Isaiah 53 says :
"He was wounded for our transgressions
He was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement (punishment) of our peace ( reconciliation)
was upon Him;
and with His stripes we are healed ( forgiven).
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned everyone to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on Him,
the iniquity of us all."
********************************
After we have confessed our sins to God alone (and not to
priests),
and have made amends to the offended party, where need be,
then we read in Psalm
32 that we
are FORGIVEN. www.cybertime.net/~ajgood/ps32.html
We begin again a renewed relationship with Our Lord,
asking for His help in our daily walk. Please see ROMANS Chapters 7 and 8 (being led of the Spirit)
We do not recall harsh words spoken by ourselves or by others.
Don't look back, like Lot's wife who turned into a pillar of
salt.
The Bible warns us not to let a root of bitterness grow.
The just man falls seven times a day. May we fall forward into
the loving arms of our Savior and seek His mercy.
May we not stay down, but get right back up again as quickly as
possible, and go on by His grace.
Pray that God will bind the demonic forces that come against us,
and to be covered under His blood protection.
